Pillar 4 – Environment and Utilities

If you ever thought
“I'm buying an Electric car to do my part!”
or
“Greener more sustainable living would be better.”
or
“Wouldn’t it be nice to ensure that there will be a clean, green planet for my grand children”

What this group will do.

Climate action is crucial for ensuring a future for our children. Biodiversity, clean green energy and recycling are all ways that we can act now. One of our council members was heavily involved in the wind power community development in Templederry in Co. Tipperary. We would like to investigate further how Rathcormac can do something similar. With the Climate Action Plan announced just this week by the Governement, such a project is ripe for development.

Currently under way in this section:

A small biodiversity project has already been started by the community council, as you can see from the Bride walk wildflowers. This group would like to expand it’s efforts. One of our own council members was involved in helping the community of Templederry get their wind energy project up and running and his knowledge and experience in the area could be utilised further by the Rathcormac Community. Cork Co. Council is open to the idea that we could put our recycling area under ground in a similar fashion to that of Clondulane. The village enhancement grant of €62,500 may well be used for this. RCC electricity supply can now be certified as coming from 100% renewable sources.
