Pillar 1 – Streetscapes, Pedestrians and Bicycles

If you ever thought

“it would be nice to put a tree there”

 or

“The village looks fairly untidy”
or

“the path here could be wider”

then this is the group for you!

What this group will do.

The Pillar asks those interested to become involved in laying out the village in an attractive and safe way. Participants would be interested in flower boxes, planting, Litter collecting and in general wanting to make Rathcormac look beautiful.

Currently under way in this section:
The village Enhancement group have received €12,000 to begin to improve the overall appearance. Some of this money was spent on the South village entrance. There remains more funding to purchase tools and equipment.

Also under way is an Urban Design that will draw up plans to make the village more attractive. A Landscape architect is being employed by RCC to complete this design and RCC envisage that this group will help that person out with ideas and local knowledge by meeting with them and discussing the village layout. We hope that any major capital funding required will come from the Rural Regeneration Programme over the life of the plan.

Other areas of Interest include
Street Signage: Tree Planting: Public Realm Painting; Cycle Lanes.
